AEW’s Will Ospreay Is Honored To Welcome Former WWE Star Back To Wrestling

Will Ospreay reacts to former WWE Superstar’s in-ring comeback

Pro-Wrestling EVE Wrestle Queendom VIII saw EVE International Champion Kris Statlander put her title on the line against Charlie (formerly known as Dakota Kai). The match marked Charlie’s return to the squared circle after nearly a year.

She previously competed for WWE on the March 24, 2025, episode of Main Event, picking up a win against Ivy Nile. That turned out to be her last match for the promotion, as she was released from her contract in May as part of a round of talent cuts.

Former AEW International Champion Will Ospreay recently took to social media to praise Charlie following her in-ring return. Ospreay noted that the former Dakota Kai showed no signs of ring rust despite being away from the ring for nearly a year.

“Charlie. Nearly a year out of the wrestling bubble and Charlie walks into one of the biggest high profile matches in the history of EVE and showed everyone it’s just like riding a bike. Cannot tell you enough to be able to have someone of her calibre and to get her comeback match…..honoured to welcome her back to wrestling,” Ospreay wrote.

For those unaware, Will Ospreay has been involved with EVE as a producer and member of the creative team since 2025. He’s currently on a rehab hiatus from All Elite Wrestling and has continued to tease his return through vignettes on weekly programming.
