Wrestling legend Konnan is reportedly hospitalized after having his leg amputated.
On Friday, March 7, El Planchitas of the Mexican sports outlet RÉCORD confirmed on X/Twitter that AAA Hall of Famer Konnan (62) has undergone leg amputation. He reported that the wrestling legend has been dealing with some health problems, which have left him hospitalized in San Diego, California, in a delicate condition.
“I can confirm that Carlos Santiago Espada (62 years old) had a leg amputated. For some time now, the Triple A star has been dealing with health problems that have left him in a delicate state in San Diego, United States,” he posted.
While there’s no official confirmation from Konnan or anyone close to him, F4WOnline‘s Dave Meltzer addressed the legend’s health condition on Wrestling Observer Radio this past Saturday. He noted that while he doesn’t know all the details about his condition, Konnan has been in rough shape for a while.
“He’s been in rough shape for a while now, probably since the last time he was on AAA television, so it’s probably been six weeks. I don’t know all of the details. I believe that he will be probably addressing it soon. He’s been in and out of the hospital, mostly in, that much I know. That’s about it, really,” Meltzer said.
Konnan has also dealt with Kidney issues in the past and underwent a successful transplant in July 2007. He was also on dialysis in 2022 due to kidney problems that stemmed from a COVID-19 diagnosis in 2021. He’s currently a creative writer for AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the promotion, and has also worked as a commentator.
WrestleZone will have more details on Konnan’s condition when they’re available.
