WWE has brought back the infamous Pipebomb promo, and this time it is being used to build the rivalry between CM Punk and Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 42.
During the March 2, 2026, episode of WWE RAW, WWE aired a glitchy teaser that recreated Punk’s Pipebomb promo from 2011. The video intrigued fans as it was abrupt and was shown for a brief moment without any explanation.
In the new version, WWE recreated the scene almost shot-for-shot. Punk wore the same black “Straight Edge” shirt and white wrist tape while sitting cross-legged, just like he did about 15 years ago. Only this time, Punk was holding the World Heavyweight Championship.

Now, WWE has released another teaser where Punk calls out the Original Tribal Chief.
The video started with current footage of the WWE World Heavyweight Champion before switching to clips from the 2011 Pipebomb. Punk then repeated the famous opening line from that promo: “I have a lot of things that I wanna get off my chest.”
Then he added a new line that directly mentioned Roman Reigns. “I was a Paul Heyman guy. You know who else was a Paul Heyman guy? Roman Reigns,” Punk said.
That line pointed out the shared connection both men have with Paul Heyman. Punk originally used the phrase “Paul Heyman Guy” during his rise in WWE, and Heyman acted as his advocate during Punk’s WWE Championship reign between 2012 and 2013. Years later, Heyman became the “Wiseman” for Reigns during his long run as Universal Champion.
Their relationship became even more complicated on the road to WrestleMania 41. Punk called in a favor from Heyman and asked him to stand in his corner during a triple threat match against Reigns and Seth Rollins.
But Heyman betrayed both Punk and Reigns by hitting them with low blows and handing a steel chair to Rollins, which helped Rollins win the match. Heyman then eventually betrayed Seth Rollins as well.
Now the rivalry between CM Punk and Roman Reigns has become even more intense. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion is now getting ready to face Reigns at WrestleMania 42. The rivalry has already become very personal, especially after the Royal Rumble winner claimed he would send Punk on a retirement tour and Punk threatened to “bury” Reigns next to his father.
