WWE NXT Star Admits Being A Full-Time Wrestler Is In His Past

A WWE NXT star is no longer looking to be a full-time wrestler.

Ever since signing with WWE in 2019, Robert Stone has mainly held managerial roles. He’s had only ten matches for the promotion in his current run so far, and three in TNA. The 42-year-old is currently the Interim General Manager of NXT.

Making his in-ring debut in 2000, Robert Stone has competed across several promotions and is a former TNA X Division Champion. However, while speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Stone stated that full-time wrestling is now a thing of his past and he has no problem with that.

“I’m in my mid-30s. I said, there’s no other managers, no one to compete with,” Stone reflected on his mindset when he joined WWE. “This is my chance to shine. I was confident speaking. I knew, ‘How much longer could I wrestle?’ Especially my style compared to how physical NXT is, so I said, ‘This is the right move for me,’ and I went all in. I’ve still got to wrestle matches since which is fun. But, being a full-time wrestler is something that’s in my past and I have no problem with that.” [H/T Fightful]

Robert Stone says WWE’s working relationship with TNA is great for fans and wrestlers

Speaking on Casual Conversations with The Classic (via The Wrestling Classic) during the early stages of WWE’s working partnership with TNA, Robert Stone noted that the collaboration is surreal and explained how it can be great for both wrestlers and fans.

“I mean, it’s so cool, Robert Stone said. “I did a post on Instagram last week, it was a picture of me wrestling AJ Styles, and it was from 2012. Someone tweeted it to me, and it made me go, in that time; what’s going on now would have been impossible. You never would have thought something like this would happen, ever, and the fact that it is unreal, it’s surreal.

“It’s just so cool for the wrestling fans. People say, ‘I want to see this guy versus this guy,’ ‘No, that will never happen.’ Well, you never know, it actually might or could happen now. And it’s great for a lot of the newer NXT people who are getting to experience a different ring, a different crowd, a different set-up because everything in sports entertainment to me is all about experience. You want to get as many experiences as you can, it makes you a better performer,“ the WWE star said.
