Cody Rhodes Opens Up About Possible Heel Turn

Former WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes has opened up about the possibility of turning heel again one day.

Speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes which featured Rey Mysterio. During the conversation, the WWE Hall of Famer asked Rhodes whether he prefers being a babyface or a heel.

Rhodes said, “I feel right now, I like the challenge of being a babyface, because it seems almost impossible some nights. Because it’s easier to be cooler.” He pointed to Logan Paul as an example of how being a heel can be more relaxed and fun.

“I really admire Logan Paul‘s situation. He could fall flat on his face and it’s no big deal, nothing lost. He can be mad at that crowd. I think sometimes there’s some elements of being a heel that are a lot of fun, whereas as a babyface, especially a white-meat style – or more how Cena would put it, ‘virtuous’ – where you’re really trying to make the right choices. That’s not always the most appealing thing by modern entertainment standards.”

Cody Rhodes says a heel turn could be in his future

Cody Rhodes also acknowledged that WWE’s fans includes many families and young fans, which leaves room for strong babyface characters. “When you look at our audience and our ticket-buying audience is young kids and families and such, there’s room for it, there’s a pocket for it.”

“And there’s different types of babyfaces – an LA Knight, a Jey Uso. I like the challenge of it, but that’s because it’s hard.” Still, Rhodes did not rule out a future heel turn. “I think if we ever transition or if (being) a heel was to come back up, that might be something I could even need in my life and don’t realize it, just from the sheer, ‘Let’s go out there and have some fun.”

“I feel like there’s a lot of pressure and a challenge on the babyface spot. Whereas sometimes, in my experience at least, being a heel is a little bit, ‘Let’s just go have some fun. Nothing needs to happen until we’re ready for it to happen, we’ll get it when we get it.’ You can dictate that pace a little bit more too. “Who knows though, it changes.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]

While he continues to embrace the babyface role, Rhodes made it clear that a heel run in the future is not out of the question. Since his return to WWE in 2022, he has remained one of the company’s biggest fan favorites.
