AEW’s Bryan Danielson Moved To Tears While Honoring Late WWE Director

Bryan Danielson recently got emotional while honoring the passing of a former WWE director.

During Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Danielson and the commentary team of AEW honored Kerwin Silfies, who passed away this week. Danielson credited Silfies with being “kind and helpful” in helping him get acclimated to TV broadcasting when he joined TV, and got emotional doing so.

Silfies was a long-time director for WWE, having joined the company in the 1980s and staying all the way through 2020. Throughout his time, Silfies spent his career backstage, directing some of the very first WrestleMania’s and more. In a separate tribute posted to social media, AEW commentator Taz also reflected on Silfie’s influence on him.

“I can’t explain what a super person & great director Kerwin was,” Taz tweeted. “I worked with him for many years in WWE on the road and in studio. His passion for great TV in the wrestling biz was strong. This man once was working in the studio through an actually heart attack & kept working!! Very sad to hear this. I hope they put him in their WWE HOF. He belongs. Prayers & support to his family. RIP.”
