Seth Rollins says Je’Von Evans suffered a concussion in January.
Last month, Je’Von Evans took on El Grande Americano (the Ludwig Kaiser iteration) on WWE Raw, and even seem poised to win when he laid out his opponent with a springboard clothesline. When Raw returned from commercial break, however, the ring announcer revealed that Evans was no longer able to compete, so the match had to be stopped. According to fellow WWE star Seth Rollins, this came as a result of Evans sustaining a concussion.
“There are sometimes where you’ll get a concussion, or you’ll see somebody get a concussion. I’ve fortunately not been in this position, but you get a concussion, the ref sees that happen, and that’s it, it’s done. They call the match off,” Rollins told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay.
“Young fella named Je’Von Evans just had this happen to him maybe two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw. He butted heads with his opponent, he got concussed, there was a little, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ They kind of let him walk through a little of the rest of the match while he was out there, and then it became apparent that he wasn’t himself, so that was it. It’s just communication.” (H/T to Fightful for the transcription)
Fortunately for Evans, his stint on the sidelines wasn’t long as he got medically cleared the following week, then survived more than 40 minutes in the Men’s Royal Rumble. Most recently, he qualified for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match.
