AEW’s Kris Statlander Cuts Emotional Promo After Bloody Strap Match Loss

Kris Statlander delivered an emotional promo after losing the AEW Women’s World Championship in a bloody strap match.

On the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kris Statlander shockingly lost the Women’s World Championship to Thekla in a strap match. The contest turned out to be a bloody affair, and it took interferences from Skye Blue and Julia Hart for Statlander to lose the title.

After the match, Orange Cassidy joined her in the ring as Tony Khan led the crowd in applause for Kris Statlander. She then delivered an emotional promo thanking the fans for sticking with her throughout the journey.

“You know, it’s been a very long up and down road with me,” Kris Statlander began. I’ve made some bad decisions. This guy knows (pointing to Orange Cassidy), I’m sorry, by the way. But it just means so much to me that all of you still come out here and support me and support all of AEW.”

Kris Statlander has big ambitions despite the loss

Despite the loss, Kris Statlander has big plans for the future. Having already won the AEW TBS Championship, she expressed her interest in winning her third title in AEW. She also spoke about the possibility of becoming a grand slam champion, which might be a hint that she’s looking to go after the Women’s World Tag Team Title.

“Honestly, so many times I wanted to give up, but those of you that stayed true with me, no matter what I’ve done, I’m gonna keep hurting myself like this for all of you. You’re all out of this world, and I love you all. Don’t try any of this at home. I’ll try and become champion for a third time. Maybe I’ll be a grand slam champion at one point,” Kris Statlander said.

She then jokingly asked Orange Cassidy if he’d be her tag team partner before hugging it out with him in the ring to a big cheer from the crowd.
