A new report has revealed how people backstage feel about Andrade El Idolo’s recent push in AEW.
The former WWE star returned to AEW in October 2025. However, he was absent from TV for a few more months as a result of his WWE non-compete. Once he was free, he returned to the company and he made it clear that winning the AEW World title was his only goal.
Last week on AEW Dynamite, he moved closer to that goal by defeating Kenny Omega. He will face Hangman Page at Grand Slam Australia. The winner will earn a shot at the AEW World Championship at Revolution.
Since returning to AEW, Andrade has gained strong momentum in recent weeks. New reports have revealed how people backstage view the former WWE star amid his current push. Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that many within AEW are happy with his recent performances.
The reports also mentioned that officials were especially impressed with the loud fan reaction to his win over Strickland. His victory reportedly boosted confidence in his direction. Backstage sources believe his push has been successful so far.
Recently, he gained a huge momentum in NJPW. He defeated Gabe Kidd at NJPW’s The New Beginning. The victory earned him a shot at Yota Tsuji’s IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Their title match will take place at The New Beginning USA on February 27.
