Big E gives a definitive update on his WWE in-ring status.
Compas on the Beat recently caught up with the former New Day star for his comments. During the interview, Big E was asked whether he is satisfied with where his WWE career stands, especially given how wrestlers like Edge have returned from serious neck injuries.
“I’m content. And you know, in wrestling, they always say ‘never say never,’ but right now I’m retired. And that, for me, is it. That’s it for me,” Big E said.
Big E suffered a neck injury following a botched belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland on the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown. Although he did not require surgery, Big E has since stated that his WWE career is “kind of behind me.”
What’s Big E up to these days…
Since stepping away from in-ring competition, Big E has taken on an analyst role with WWE. Moreover, he also scouts potential superstars at company tryouts. He is a former one-time world champion and a multi-time tag team champion in the promotion.
His association with The New Day ended during the group’s 10-year anniversary celebration on a previous episode of WWE Raw. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned heel by kicking their longtime friend out of the faction. Odyssey Jones was mooted to replace Big E in the faction. However, domestic assault allegations led to Jones’s exit from the company.
Grayson Waller later aligned himself with The New Day although that association failed to replicate the magic of the faction’s glory days. Speaking of Waller, the “Arrogant Aussie” is believed to be the masked man who attacked Bron Breakker at the start of the Men’s Royal Rumble, leading to an early elimination by Oba Femi.
