WWE Royal Rumble could be headed back to the United States next year.
The 2026 WWE Royal Rumble took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This was the first Royal Rumble event (out of 39 total) to take place outside of North America. Saudi Arabia is set to get WrestleMania 43 in 2027, but it looks like the Rumble will return “home” next year.
According to Wrestlevotes Radio (via Fightful Select), the general belief backstage at WWE is that the Royal Rumble will take place in the United States. It was noted that the event would likely take place “in a domestic stadium” for 2027. It’s also believed that the Royal Rumble would continue to be a one-night event, despite pushes for it to be a two-night show.
The 2026 WWE Royal Rumble featured many notable events, including Powerhouse Hobbs’ debut and Brie Bella’s in-ring return. The show also featured the final WWE match for AJ Styles, who lost a retirement match to Gunther. Despite losing the match and saying farewell to WWE, Styles recently teased that there is something that might influence him to return to the ring someday.
There was also an unfortunate production issue that plagued the show, as the stadium had LED lighting installed on the seats. The lights flickered during Superstar entrances, but it also made the stadium look empty on the televised broadcast.
According to PWInsider, the LED seat lighting was specifically cited as the cause, and one company source does not expect WWE to try that production element again when they return to Saudi Arabia.
