A former WWE Universal Champion has been hospitalized due to a sudden illness.
Former Universal Champion Braun Strowman has been on a break from professional wrestling since his departure from WWE last year. However, he remained busy with his other endeavors, including his own food travel show, Everything on the Menu for USA Network, which was recently renewed for a second season.
While he’s already facing some issues with his left leg, Braun Strowman took to Instagram to reveal he had to be hospitalized due to an infection that came out of nowhere in his right knee. He posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed and has asked fans for their prayers and well-wishes.
“Well spent the night in the hospital with an infection that came out of nowhere in my right knee. So I could use some prayers and well wishes,” the former WWE star posted.
Braun Strowman believes this wild reason is why he was hated backstage in WWE
During his recent appearance on Something’s Burning with Bert Kreischer, Braun Strowman discussed his early days with WWE. He believes that being able to bypass NXT and coming straight to the main roster earned him a lot of hate in the locker room.
“I did one dark match in NXT, and then I did three house shows with NXT,” the former WWE star said. “I like to joke around—we always said, because it was the Bullet Club, but also The Club—Gallows, Anderson, and AJ Styles—when they came in, we were the only four that skipped NXT.
“So we skipped NXT and kind of went straight to the main roster, which is really wild for me because, like I said, coming in, not born into the business and I didn’t come through the indies. So I was an outsider. I was hated.
“Everyone was like, ‘F*ck this big guy,’ and all this shit. There’s always that ‘he didn’t pay his dues’ thing. But what people didn’t realize was that I was sleeping in my car. I was traveling around the world. I was North America’s Strongest Man in 2011, I wore the Arnold [Amateur],” the former WWE star said. [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
