Interesting WWE-Linked Name Earns 2026 Oscar Nomination

A name with WWE ties has earned a 2026 Oscar nomination.

The list of nominees for the 98th Academy Awards was unveiled earlier today. The 2025 period drama film Train Dreams has received four nominations in various categories, including “Best Picture.” Marissa McMahon, the wife of former WWE personality Shane McMahon, is one of the producers and is credited alongside Teddy Schwarzman, Will Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer, and Michael Heimler.

Train Dreams is an adaptation of Denis Johnson’s 2011 novella. It follows Robert Grainier (played by Joel Edgerton), a railroad worker and logger whose life unfolds against the backdrop of early 20th-century America’s rapid changes.

Marissa McMahon founded Kamala Films in 2005 and was a producer in films like A Private War and What Maisie Knew. She also played a small role as a bird merchant in The Rock’s Scorpion King, starring WWE legend The Rock.

She also made a few appearances in WWE. Marissa McMahon co-hosted WWF LiveWire with Michael Cole and has also worked behind the scenes.

This is her first Oscar nomination, and it will be interesting to see if she gets the award when the ceremony airs live on ABC on Sunday, March 15. The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles serves as the host site for the ceremony.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s The Smashing Machine also earned a nomination, but only one for makeup. While the WWE legend earned a Golden Globe acting nomination for his portrayal of Mark Kerr in the movie, he didn’t receive an Oscar nomination.
