Top Luchador Under WWE Contract – Report

A new report suggests that a top luchador is under direct contract with WWE following the company’s acquisition of AAA.

According to PWInsider Elite, El Hijo del Vikingo holds a unique contract situation compared to the rest of the AAA roster. While most AAA wrestlers remain signed to Fillip, which controls 49% of the promotion alongside WWE/TKO’s 51%, Vikingo is signed directly to WWE.

Furthermore, it reported that nearly all AAA talent works under contracts with Fillip, the company that co-owns AAA with TKO. However, Vikingo stands out as the exception, as WWE signed him directly.

This move lines up with reports from May 2025 that identified El Hijo del Vikingo as a major priority signing during the acquisition process. WWE has already reflected this status in how it books Vikingo. Since the acquisition, he has appeared on WWE programming, showing that the company views him as a key talent going forward.

Vikingo won the AAA Mega Championship for the second time in May 2025 when he defeated Alberto El Patrón, a match that also saw fans turn on him. He later lost the title to Dominik Mysterio at AAA x WWE Worlds Collide 2025: Las Vegas in September.

Now back on top, El Hijo del Vikingo recently emerged as the number one contender for the AAA Mega Championship on last week’s episode of AAA TV. He secured the title opportunity by defeating El Grande Americano in an impressive bout.
