Update On Rusev’s WWE Status — Report

Why has Rusev disappeared from WWE programming as of late?

Former United States Champion Rusev returned to WWE last year shortly following WrestleMania 41. Surprisingly, The Bulgarian Brute’s return to the company didn’t include much fanfare and quickly disappeared into the roster as just another guy in a short amount of time.

Rusev had an opportunity to be John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but lost his tournament match against Jey Uso on the November 21 episode of SmackDown, and he hasn’t been seen since.

So why has Rusev disappeared from WWE programming?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Rusev is currently off WWE programming for the same reason that the Street Profits are. Johnson explains that it’s a decision made by the creative team to not waste talent that isn’t currently in the mix of things on RAW or SmackDown.

The idea behind it being when they return to television, they will be considered fresh and not underutilized talent. Whether this strategy works or not remains to be seen.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
