Perez Hilton appeared on Thursday’s live episode of TNA Impact on AMC. The controversial blogger’s appearance was hyped throughout the week, with Hilton telling SEScoops‘ Scott Fishman that fans could expect “a lot of booze” from his appearance. Hilton expected the crowd not to embrace him, but still went into the situation with a positive outlook.
Hilton’s role on the show was not revealed beforehand. Once the show started, Hilton joined all of the members of The Elegance Brand stable in the ring.
“I’m used to covering red carpet events, fashion misses and hits, and this crowd really brought their game. Their D Game,” he proclaimed, as he was met with boos.
The Personal Concierge went on to call Dallas a town full of degenerate, filthy pigs, which got a bit more of a response than Hilton did. The Elegance Brand then introduced the crowd to Mr. Elegance, who cut a longer, yet similar promo.
Perez Hilton wasn’t well-received by TNA fans
Perez Hilton really didn’t do much in the grand scheme of things. It did make sense to pair him with the Elegance Brand, but his promo largely got overshadowed by the two other promos that followed. TNA also did another celebrity angle on the show with the cast of AMC’s Darkwinds, and it was a little more successful, as Darkwinds star Zahn McClarnon got physical with Ryan Nemeth.
As if that wasn’t enough, fans didn’t really want to see Hilton on the show. Criticism ranged from calling Hilton out for being a bad person to TNA being 20 years too late on bringing him in.
Hilton considered Thursday to be a one-off appearance, but didn’t want to rule out a future collaboration with TNA Wrestling.
“I would love to do more with TNA,” Hilton said prior to the show.
However, if that happens, TNA might want to rethink how they use celebrities moving forward.
