WWE World Tag Team Champions The Usos are getting a chance to show the world that they can cook both in the ring and in a kitchen.
According to Sports Business Journal, global digital sports platform Fanatics is officially entering the content production business in partnership with L.A.-based OBB Media by launching Fanatics Studios. Helmed by CEO Michael Ratner, the new venture will look to create feature films, documentaries, live event specials, digital series, and scripted/unscripted originals.
As part of its official launch, Fanatics Studio will partner with LA28, Tom Brady, Fox Sports, ESPN, WWE, and MLB to produce content.
For WWE, the studio looks to produce several projects, including an unscripted culinary series featuring World Tag Team Champions Jimmy and Jey Uso. It will see The Usos step outside the WWE ring and into the kitchen to showcase a different side of them to the fans. The show will be distributed across WWE’s YouTube channels and social media platforms.
Before they can step into their new endeavor, The Usos have some new challengers lined up as Otis and Akira Tozawa of The Alpha Academy made it clear on this week’s WWE RAW that they are coming for the World Tag Team Championship.
WWE’s CM Punk defends Jey Uso from online criticism
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, CM Punk defended Jey Uso against the online criticism he’s been receiving. He pointed out the difference between the reception Uso gets from the live WWE audience and the internet wrestling community.
“Jey Uso, in every arena, like, I’m battling with John Cena and Jey Uso as who sells more t-shirts on any given night,” the WWE World Heavyweight Champion began. “Everybody is going crazy for his music. They’re yeeting, they want him to run it back. This dude can go on TV for ten minutes and just yeet.
“But then if you went on the internet, ‘Oh, he’s the worst wrestler alive.’ Is he, or are you just extremely hyperbolic? Everything nowadays, ‘This is the best thing ever. This is the worst thing ever. I don’t like this, so you have to not like it too.’ It’s really just like, ‘Like what you like. Champion that.’ I try to stay away from the negativity.”
“Jey Uso is f*ckin phenomenal. He is 100%. We just live these lives that are so public that everybody wants to point fingers and laugh if we like slip on a banana peel or make a mistake,” the WWE star said.
