WWE Has Interest In Another NJPW Star — Report

Another NJPW star is drawing significant interest from WWE.

Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is interested in pursuing Gabe Kidd once his contract runs out later this month.

“Gabe Kidd is another one that they (WWE) want. I’m sure AEW wants him, and I’m sure New Japan wants him,” Meltzer said. “With Kidd, it’s going to be really interesting because I think he truly loves New Japan, and New Japan made him a star.” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

Gabe Kidd initially made a name for himself as a member of Bullet Club War Dogs in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He also delivered a standout performance against Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty in January 2025.

Kidd has gained additional prominence through his work in All Elite Wrestling over the past couple of months. During the Blood and Guts match, he emerged to attack Darby Allin before helping PAC throw Allin onto a flaming table, setting up a feud between the two.

WWE is also interested in a former NJPW champion

Gabe Kidd is not the only NJPW star reportedly drawing interest from WWE. The company is also said to be interested in former IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay. Fans can find more details on that here.

This news comes as several top NXT stars have moved to the main roster in recent weeks. Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Jordynne Grace have all transitioned to RAW or SmackDown, leaving the door open for upcoming free agents to potentially sign with the NXT brand.

Speaking of Je’Von Evans, The Young OG was signed to RAW during a commercial break last week, which triggered significant backlash on social media. However, Evans did receive plenty of TV time during the latest episode of the red brand.
