Shelton Benjamin Reacts To Concern Over ‘Emotional’ AEW Dynamite Appearance

Shelton Benjamin addresses his “emotional” appearance on AEW Dynamite this week.

As he made his way to the ring for an AEW Continental Championship eliminator match against Jon Moxley this week, Shelton Benjamin appeared to be in an emotional state, with a watery substance noticeably glistening on his cheeks. Initially, fans interpreted the substance as tears. Benjamin, however, later clarified that it was actually just water.

“Thanks for the concern Fans you are greatly appreciated but, I don’t do emotional, I hurt Hurt people,” Benjamin wrote on Twitter/X. “However before I enter an arena I do pour water on my head that tends to drip.”

Despite Benjamin’s logical explanation, his former WWE colleague Xavier Woods is seemingly still unconvinced by it. “Bro you cried. Its ok. Hurt people, hurt people,” Woods wrote, playing off of Benjamin’s membership to The Hurt Syndicate.

Benjamin indeed went on to inflict some hurt on AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley during their match on AEW Dynamite. In the end, though, it wasn’t enough to escape Moxley’s match-winning roll-up that came mere seconds before time expired.

Last week, Moxley conquered The Don Callis Family’s Josh Alexander in another eliminator match, after which Shelton Benjamin appeared on the stage alongside MVP to stare down Moxley. With his interest in the Continental Championship then clear, an eliminator match between them was made official for this Wednesday. Benjamin’s tag team partner Bobby Lashley will reportedly remain out of action for a significant amount of time after sustaining an injury.
