With the turn of the year, the road to WWE WrestleMania 42 is now in full force, and so is the celebrity excitement.
In a new promotional video, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque sat down at his desk inside WWE Headquarters to review match pitches for WrestleMania 42, slated for Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and 19. In this case, all of the pitches came from celebrities, some of whom are already familiar to the WWE Universe.
NFL legend Peyton Manning proposed the idea of he and his brother Eli Manning teaming up for a tag match at WrestleMania 42. Actor and comedian Pete Davidson had a similar suggestion, though it involved a combination of himself, Big Dom, and Cooper DeJean facing Triple H in a tag team match on the grand stage.
Other names expressing interest in stepping into the ring were NBA star Tyrese Haliburton, comedian Tony Hinchliffe, and actor Eric Andre. Andre’s bleeped-out proposal seemed particularly colorful as if left Triple H asking “Is that even legal?” Meanwhile, Hinchliffe asserted his desire to walk out of WrestleMania as a WWE women’s champion. Which specific women’s title he intends to pursue has yet to be seen, though.
More Pitches
Lin-Manuel Miranda, famous for his acting and Broadway work, revealed himself as a big fan of WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, so much so that he wants to see “Dom Mysterio the Musical” play out at WrestleMania. Elsewhere, Rapper Lil Yachty noted that he was keen on seeing a big boat floating through Allegiant Stadium.
Other notable ideas came courtesy of IShowSpeed, Jalen Brunson, Cam Skattebo, and Travis Barker, the latter of whom stated that he’d “wipe the mat with his greasy a** hair,” potentially also in reference to Dominik Mysterio.
Eventually, Triple H grew weary of the buzzing celebrities and slammed his laptop shut, groaning that “This is going to be a long road to WrestleMania.” As an added PSA, a caption asked the celebrities figures to stop emailing and texting Triple H. Whether or not they actually listen to it has also yet to be seen.
