A TNA Hall of Famer reveals that a former top WWE official once refused to sign her because she was not single.
Velvet Sky, who’s well-known for her time in TNA Wrestling as part of the Beautiful People faction, had one match in WWE back in 2005 when she competed under the name Talia against Victoria on the July 17, 2005, episode of Sunday Night Heat. Replying to a clip of the bout on X/Twitter, a fan expressed surprise that Sky didn’t get signed to WWE.
Velvet Sky then responded to the fan’s tweet with an honest explanation. The TNA legend revealed that, despite being told she would get signed, former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis refused to offer her a contract because she was in a long-time relationship with one of the talent who worked there at the time.
She claimed that Laurinaitis told her that he “didn’t want HIS divas dating within the company.” So, she chose to remain loyal to her long-time partner and ended up not getting signed.
“The reason I didn’t get signed, per right from Johnny Ace’s mouth at our meeting at headquarters when I was told prior to the meeting that I was gonna be signed, was because I was in a long term relationship with one of the talent who worked there at the time, and I was told by Ace that he “didn’t want HIS divas dating within the company. I chose loyalty to my long term man at the time and got passed up because I wasn’t single. Oh well. I had a helluva career at TNA and wouldn’t have changed it for anything,” Velvet Sky posted.
