WWE Legend Explains What Went Wrong With The nWo

The nWo is one of the most iconic wrestling factions of all time. So what went terribly wrong with the group in the final years of WCW? A WWE Legend has a theory.

On the latest episode of Something to Wrestle, WWE Legend Bruce Prichard was asked what a suitable ending to the nWo in WWE would have been. Prichard responded by revealing he believes the faction should have ended in 1998, leading to him explaining what he believes went wrong with the legendary stable.

“I would have ended it in ’98,” Bruce Prichard said. “I mean, look again, it was a turning point in the business. It was one of the greatest stories and great angles, and magnificent. But that was a place in time. They never moved on beyond it.

“They had nowhere to go beyond it. So we’ll make a nWo red, we’ll make an nWo blue, make an nWo yellow, make an nWo green. Let’s do a turquoise. It was great, [but] it got too big to where I don’t care. The only people I ever cared about in the nWo were Hulk, Nash, and Hall. That’s me. It’s an opinion. So everybody that comes into that after that is gone. It’s less than.”

Why did the nWo fail in WWE?

After WCW closed its doors, the nWo was brought back later on in WWE with the original three: Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. Unfortunately, the group’s run there wasn’t anywhere nearly as successful as the one it had in WCW.

During an episode of 83 Weeks, former WCW President Eric Bischoff explains why he believed the WWE iteration of the nWo failed. You can check out by clicking the link below.
