They say grief comes in many forms, but for WWE NXT star Blake Monroe, hers can seemingly be summed up in one image.
On the December 16 edition of WWE NXT, Thea Hail shocked the wrestling world when she dethroned Blake Monroe as NXT Women’s North American Champion. According to reports, this title change came as a result of Monroe being legitimately winded from Hail’s springboard senton, then unable to kick out of the cover that followed. And rather than stopping his count as initially planned, the referee called it as a shoot finish.
Since losing her NXT Women’s North American Championship, Monroe hasn’t shied away from airing her grievances on NXT programming as well as social media. In between, she also took a moment to deeply reflect on her loss.
Monroe expressed her sadness by posting a photo (via Twitter/X) of herself sitting next to the title on a swing, while dressed in a white bikini. The NXT star paired it with a broken heart emoji.
Hours later on NXT television, Monroe demanded that Hail handed her back the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Hail refused to do that, though she did grant Monroe a rematch for the title at NXT New Year’s Evil, which is slated for January 6.
Following the unplanned title change and subsequent backstage scramble, WWE is now reportedly enforcing a talent policy that would requite them to stay through the end of future shows.
