A WWE legend believes LA Knight has got it all.
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was a recent guest on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast. During the conversation, DDP addressed the comparisons between his career and LA Knight’s. As someone who won his first world championship in his 40s, DDP hopes Knight also gets his chance to shine.
“I love that kid, man. I love the tenacity of the stick to it, it took him a long time to get to that character. And he was good before that, but now he’s great. Hopefully at some point he gets a chance to really get that ball, because he can run with it, give him that damn ball, because that cat, he’s got it all.
“And people who say that he’s mimicking this character, that character, that’s so wrong. He’s a piece of all that. He grew up on all of us coming up wanting to do what we do, and now he’s doing it at its highest level. So I saw that article actually sent it to him, because it was really cool the way they [did it]. I thought it was just going to be a little blurb, but just comparing our careers,” the WWE legend said.
Another WWE Legend Worries LA Knight Could Fade Into Midcard Obscurity
Speaking on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray expressed concern over LA Knight’s future in WWE after he tapped out to Gunther in the finals of the Last Time is Now Tournament and got taken out by The Vision on the following episode of RAW.
“Do you have any hope for LA Knight at this point? What does he do? Where does that character go? As a fan, with the ups and downs of LA Knight, why should you be on board with him? I’m gonna answer the question for you, I don’t think you should be. I think it’s time for a different side of LA Knight.
“You ever seen Rock tap? Maybe he did once as a heel, maybe he tapped to Benoit or Angle or something. Maybe. But he did it as a heel. As a babyface you ever see The Rock tap? You ever see Stone Cold babyface tap? The only reason I’m using these two guys is that who LA Knight is a mixture of, and you tapped. The character tapped.
“What’s next? Something completely in a different direction. You need to do something, and you need to do something quick. Otherwise, he’s going to kind of fade into midcard obscurity. When a wrestler has to rely on a tagline in the middle of a match, a huge match, a championship-esque level match, you’ve got to rely on that tagline; there’s something wrong,” the WWE Hall of Famer said.
