With Andrade El Idolo recently appearing for multiple companies, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, what does that mean for his AEW status?
Friday evening, Andrade El Idolo made a shocking appearance at House of Glory in New York, attacking their current World Champion, Charles Mason. This was hot off the heels of winning the WWC Universal Championship in Puerto Rico. So what does this mean for a potential return to AEW? It sounds like that won’t be too far off either.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Andrade’s deal with WWE came to an end around December 12, and he’s free to sign with AEW or any other company he chooses to.
Sapp reveals that former Ring of Honor World Champion Rush put El Idolo in contact with an attorney and rep that had worked closely with WWE for years. Thanks to the connection, this attorney and rep were able to help get the year-long non-compete waived.
It’s also noted that when WWE terminated Andrade’s contract, it also ended his work visa. However, the visa situation is currently being handled. El Idolo is back in the United States, as we saw from his House of Glory appearance on Friday.
When could we see Andrade El Idolo back in AEW?
We know that El Idolo was in New York on Friday for House of Glory. So it’s very possible he’s already filmed something with AEW for his return to the company.
Based on the weekend’s spoilers, Kenny Omega will be free at Worlds End to have a singles match. With Andrade being the man who attacked him on the night of his AEW return, this match could potentially take place as soon as this week. However, that’s far from confirmed.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
