An NXT Superstar has officially been called up to the WWE main roster with a new storyline.
The following information contains spoilers from next week’s episode of SmackDown. If you don’t wish to be spoiled, back out now; you’ve been warned.
In a backstage segment during the December 26 episode of WWE SmackDown, former TNA and NXT Champion Trick Williams appeared, announcing he is now a free agent and looking to sign with a brand.
During the segment, Williams had a brief interaction with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who was backstage looking for Nick Aldis. However, as of this writing, we aren’t sure what was said between the two men.
Which brand will Trick Williams end up on?
Despite first appearing on SmackDown, it appears Trick Williams’ free agent status is closer to a shoot than a work.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Trick Williams has yet to be officially listed internally on a brand. So it’s likely we’ll see the former two-time NXT Champion pop up on RAW in the weeks ahead to play up a war between the two brands vying for his services.
Regardless of where he lands, Johnson confirms that Trick Williams is main roster-bound in 2026.
