AEW Star Announces Serious Injury

It seems that the AEW roster just can’t stay healthy as we head into 2026.

It was recently announced that Bobby Lashley of The Hurt Syndicate will be sidelined from action for an undetermined amount of time. However, Lashley isn’t the only AEW star who has recently been sidelined by an injury.

Leila Grey of SkyFlight, who competed against Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship on the December 6 episode of Collision, suffered a serious injury during that matchup.

Grey took to social media recently to announce that she tore her ACL in her match with Mercedes on Collision, yet still scored first place in a recent WBFF competition, tweeting out:

“FIRST PLACE BABY! *Gold medal emoji* I just won, went Pro, and become the new WBFF Pro Fitness Diva!!….. with a freakin’ torn ACL! For those that may not know, I tore my ACL last week in my match with Mercedes. I’ll be going into surgery and will be out of commission for a while. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Not only did it affect my championship match, a MAJOR opportunity for me, but it happened one week out from my debut WBFF show that I had invested so much of my life into the past year.

“People expected me to drop out, but honey, There’s no quit in me. I’m a boss ass baddie, and I always get the job done. Strapped up, blinged out my knee brace and it was go time! The devil tried to take this away from me but God said nope! THIS IS FOR YOU!! Thank you to all of my amazing supporters. I love you all. This is just the beginning in my fitness career. Many more wins to come! *Red heart emoji* Thank you WBFF for allowing me to live out my dreams,” Leila Grey said in a post.

Leila Grey puts over Mercedes Moné

When a fan in the comments placed the blame on The CEO for Grey’s injury, she immediately came to the defense of the TBS Champion, tweeting back:

“Mercedes is actually one of the most amazing humans ever. The injury had nothing to do with her and she stayed by my side with me in medical the whole night and helped me pack my bags and has been checking on me nonstop. No Mercedes shit talking allowed in this post,” Leila Grey said in response.

On behalf of everyone here at WrestleZone, we wish Leila Grey a quick and painless recovery.
