Bryan Danielson says he never fully recovered from his last neck surgery.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, former AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson was asked about his neck issues.
“So, I have degeneration from C1 all the way down to T2,” Danielson revealed. “There’s… you know… I’m on the cusp of needing surgery, right? And it’s this weird line. I’d like to avoid surgery as much as possible.
“My last neck surgery was… I never fully recovered from it, in the sense of getting back the strength, the mobility, all that sort of thing. So I’d really like to avoid it, especially because my son is a menace. I had a broken arm, right? I had a big cast, I’m in a sling, and it’s like, ‘Buddy, okay, you can’t touch Daddy’s arm.’ And he’s jumping on my arm and all this kind of stuff.”
“I’m just like, ‘Oh no, if I get neck surgery…’ It’s not like you wear a neck brace all the time. He’s just pure boyish, right? And no matter how many times Brie tells him, and I tell him — though not as forcefully as Brie does — Brie’s like, ‘Get off of Daddy’s neck.’ And he just can’t not do it. It’s just a boy thing.
“Our daughter is super good about it, but she’s… you know… she’s different. He’s all boy.”
Bryan Danielson says he’d never want to get neck surgery
When asked if he’s pushing neck surgery off as far as he can, Danielson said:
“I mean, I’d like to never get neck surgery. I was actually doing really well until I started traveling more, and then it’s really gone downhill.
“I had these weird — well, not even weird — these delusions about maybe being able to get back and do a little bit of wrestling or whatever. Now I see they were delusions. This traveling is like, ‘Oh, okay, yeah… this is not… that would not be a good idea.’”
