Bayley: ‘It Blows My Mind’ That Talent Leave Shows Early

Bayley weighs in a backstage norm that has seemingly shifted in WWE.

As the years pass by, veteran wrestlers continue to hand down the advice and standards they believe the next generation should then pass on themselves. For former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley, one of the most important tasks is staying for the entire duration of shows in which attends, whether she receives screen-time or not.

According to Bayley, it not only serves as a sign of respect to her fellow wrestlers, but it’s also an opportunity for her to gain valuable insight. In the present day, though, some of her peers don’t view it the same way.

“That just blows my mind [when wrestlers leave shows early],” Bayley said on Six Feet Under. ” I can’t even imagine what it was like [back in The Undertaker’s era], but when I first got on the road it was, all the live events, you always watch. [John] Cena watched everything. Roman Reigns] watched everything. And now these last few years, Seth [Rollins] is always at that front monitor. So if you’re at the live events, you come back through the curtain, there’s that monitor right there, and then you have talent viewing. I always liked watching at that front monitor because you can hear the crowd better.

“Also when people come back, they ask Seth like, ‘Oh, what did you think?’ Then I could hear what he’s saying to them, so okay, I’m learning too,” she continued. “But then lately there’s some people who just leave and then Seth comes back from the main event and nobody’s there. That is like what? You just asked for his advice, and now nobody’s here. That drives me crazy. Or if some people aren’t on the show, they just take off, and I just can’t [understand].”

Bayley Tries To Lead By Example

After seeing some of her peers exit WWE shows early, Bayley noted that she tried to explain to them why they should stay. Whether or not they take her point of view into consideration afterward, is then up to them.

“I’m trying to lead by example,” Bayley said, “so I would hope that some of the girls see that I’m still here, or I’m not booked but I’m in Gorilla, or I’m not booked but I’m watching the girls matches no matter what and that would be like, oh, maybe I should stay. Some may think like that, some may not.”
