TNA Star Officially Added To WWE Roster

A former TNA World Champion has officially become a WWE Superstar.

Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported last month that TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry has signed a long-term deal with WWE. Hendry was showcased heavily on WWE television while still signed to TNA. The report stated that WWE was looking to bring Hendry in and that Shawn Michaels even urged the company to buy out his TNA contract.

Now, WWE has officially added Joe Hendry to the NXT roster, and his bio page on the company’s website reads:

“Now a member of the WWE roster, Hendry continues to delight and dazzle the crowds with his signature surprise appearances and his incredible matches.”

Mark Hendry Had A Unique Pitch For Former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry To Become John Cena’s Last Opponent

Former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry didn’t make it as one of the participants in the Last Time is Now tournament to decide John Cena’s last opponent. However, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry came up with a unique pitch for Hendry to still become Cena’s final opponent.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Mark Henry said the former TNA star should simply come out after John Cena’s last match and voluntarily lay down and ask Cena to pin him.

“I would want Joe Hendry to come out and say, ‘I didn’t make it in the tournament, but before you leave, I want you to allow me the privilege of being in the ring with you.’

“And when Joe Hendry gets in the ring, you would think that John would be like, ‘Listen man, I’m done, I’ve just had my last match.’ But John is a soldier. And I would have Joe Hendry say, ‘John, I don’t wanna fight you, I wanted to have a match with you because I wanted to do this…’

“And have Joe Hendry lay down on the ground on his back and tell John Cena, ‘Cover me, so I can have that I had a match with you and you beat me on my record.’” [H/T WrestleTalk]
