AJ Lee says she’s developing a movie for an iconic Japanese animation studio.
Speaking to Stephanie McMahon on the What’s Your Story podcast, AJ Lee opened up about her ventures outside of pro wrestling. Talking about her production studio, Lee revealed that she’s working on a new feature film with Toei Animation, a studio known for producing Dragon Ball Z.
“We created this production company,” AJ Lee began, “we are developing a TV show, we just wrote our second feature, I think I have permission to say it. I think this is the first time anyone’s hearing this, so we’re breaking news.
“I love anime so much, and so one of my favorite companies growing up was Toei. They did Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, and like, these things that raised me. We are writing a movie for Toei Animation. I think that’s all I can say.
“But just such a dream come true to be in their office and see, like, all the Dragon Ball Z figures everywhere. Lost my mind. It was like, ‘Can I move in here?’ Yeah, Amazing!” AJ Lee said.
AJ Lee Reflected On Her Viral Tweet About Equal Pay In WWE
Speaking on the same podcast, AJ Lee also reflected on the viral tweet she posted to call out Stephanie McMahon and WWE over female superstars not getting equal pay.
AJ Lee stated that she wanted to send a direct message, irrespective of the consequences she might’ve faced.
“There was an incident on Twitter in which you had posted about equal pay. And then I retweeted it, and I said, ‘Well, we’re talking about use your voice, we don’t get equal pay, essentially, yet we’re bringing in more eyeballs than a lot of the men.’ It was probably pretty fiesty.
“That, to me, felt, in general, fairly direct. I try not to be rude. I think a lot of people were like, ‘I have no filter,’ and it’s an excuse for being rude. But I think you can be direct, but very practical. I felt it was coming from a practical phase, very direct, but I also was a bit like, ‘I ain’t got nothing to lose right now.’”
Stephanie McMahon also opened up on how she felt about AJ Lee’s tweet.
