Dwayne Johnson has revealed a Jumanji 3 easter egg to honor the late Robin Williams.
Jumanji 3 is officially in production, and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), who plays Dr. Xander “Smolder” Bravestone, took to X/Twitter to share a video from the first day of shooting in Los Angeles. He mentioned that he was happy to film a movie in LA after a long time.
“A little day one of Jumanji excitement. That was cool. So good to be shooting in Los Angeles. I have not shot a film in Los Angeles in.. I don’t know when, so it feels so good to bring a production back home to Los Angeles and have a hard-working crew sleep in their own bed every night.”
Speaking further, Dwayne Johnson pointed to the necklace with a dice pendant he was wearing and revealed that it was the dice from the original 1995 Jumanji starring Robin Williams. Johnson noted that it was a way to honor the late actor and the franchise that he started, as Jumanji 3 will be the fifth and final installment in the series.
“Especially just a big fun movie like Jumanji, as you see (points to the necklace he’s wearing), little easter egg with Dr. Bravestone. This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams, as a show of respect and a way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise that he started, as we film our very last Jumanji. Big finale, here we go, let’s shoot!”
Jumanji 3 is directed by Jake Kasdan, and along with Dwayne Johnson, it will also see Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian, and Nick Jonas, among others, reprising their roles from the previous films. The movie is set to hit the theaters on December 11, 2026. The crew has also revealed the first look at the film on X/Twitter.
