WWE has officially announced John Cena’s next role, and it will impact a major stipulation match at WWE NXT Deadline.
On WWE NXT Gold Rush, it confirmed that the Iron Survivor Challenge is returning this year but with one big change. In past years, different WWE legends each picked one competitor for the match. This time, the NXT General Manager, Ava revealed a new format.
Ava said that 2025 has been an incredible year and reminded everyone that WWE NXT Deadline is just three weeks away on December 6. She confirmed that the Iron Survivor Challenge will return, but only one person will choose all the competitors this year. She then announced that this person will be John Cena.
This means Cena will pick all 10 participants five men and five women for the 2025 Iron Survivor Challenge. Cena has visited the WWE Performance Center several times recently to work with NXT talent, and he has already promised to highlight NXT stars during his final WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Now he is even more involved with the brand, as he gets to decide who competes in WWE NXT’s biggest matches at Deadline.
