There’s a new update on Adam Copeland’s status amid his AEW absence.
Adam Copeland last appeared on AEW television on the September 24, 2025, episode of Dynamite. After FTR attacked his wife, Beth Copeland, after their tag team match at All Out, The Rated R Superstar told Christian Cage that he’s going to take care of his family for a while and was not sure if he’d return.
The segment sparked rumors that Adam Copeland would leave AEW and return to WWE to be part of John Cena’s retirement tour. While Tony Khan stated that Copeland is out of action due to other commitments, a new report from PWInsider (via PWInsider Elite) confirms that’s the case.
The report states that Adam Copeland was spotted in London while filming for his role in the upcoming movie, The Beekeeper 2, and that he’ll be working on the film for most of November.
Copeland’s casting in the film was confirmed in September, but the producers are keeping the details about his character under wraps.
Adam Copeland Recently Spoke About Why He Left WWE For AEW
During an interview with Inside The Ropes, Adam Copeland once again talked about why he decided to leave WWE for AEW in 2023.
Adam Copeland said that, knowing he only has a few years left as an in-ring performer, he wanted to do more and be a regular weekly presence on AEW television before he hangs up his boots for good.
“Well, I think it’s because it was just such a set, surefire thing, right? And it would’ve been more of the same, which was fine, but I wanted to do more. And I knew the window was small, so if I was going to do it, let’s do it more while I can.
“I don’t want to run this for five more. I don’t want to be doing this until I’m 56. I thought I’m probably going to have 10 matches a year with WWE, or I can go over there and be involved every week. That sounds fun. That sounds like I can do more. I can try and be involved in more stories and be a constant presence, so that those stories can unfold properly.”
