Big E will be on hand in Iowa City later this weekend, as part of a crew of special guests for FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff show.
The WWE Superstar shared the news on social media, announcing it alongside FOX. As part of the show, Big E will be with the rest of the Big Noon Kickoff team in Iowa City, Iowa, for a big day. The program is set to begin broadcasting at 10:00 a.m. EST on FOX, and will be there for the Iowa vs. Oregon football game.
Big E, while born in Tampa, Florida, has big roots in Iowa. The star attended the University of Iowa and played football there for the Hawkeyes. Big E was a defensive lineman, redshirting in 2004 and missing the season in 2005 due to an injury. His lone season was 2006, where he played as a sophomore.
It’s unclear what type of activities Big E will get up to. Since his time at Iowa, Big E has been a star for WWE, although his in-ring career is all but over. The star suffered a career-altering injury on the road to WWE WrestleMania 38. E and Kofi Kingston took on Holland and Sheamus in tag team action on the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown. During the match, Big E took a belly-to-belly suplex from Holland outside of the ring, landing on his neck.
The impact fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae, and the match came to an abrupt end. E was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. While Big E has since healed from the injury, he believes his in-ring career is “kind of behind” him now.
