Maxxine Dupri Comments On Potentially Changing Her Name In WWE

Maxxine Dupri is making a name for herself in WWE.

Dupri initially started in WWE as a valet in NXT named Sofia Cromwell. However, when she was called up to SmackDown, she was renamed Maxxine Dupri, the name she currently uses on WWE programming. Maxxine was the storyline brother of Max Dupri, who is better known to WWE fans as LA Knight.

LA Knight had a successful run in NXT, and was inexplicably rebranded as part of the Maximum Male Models gimmick. However, ‘Max Dupri’ soon left the stable, leaving Maxxine to lead the group on RAW. Despite moving on from the gimmick, Maxxine Dupri kept her name. She spoke with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast about her “family ties” and joked that her brother has gone silent and assumed a new identity.

“That is my brother. And you know what’s insane. I have a huge match on Monday versus Becky Lynch. And do you think my brother has called me to offer any advice or train me? No, he has not, and our mother is worried about him. He’s out here living by a new name, it’s crazy. It’s a whole thing. Like, if he would like to show up to a family reunion, we would be so happy to welcome him with open arms,” she quipped.

Van Vliet also asked if there had ever been a discussion about changing her name to distance herself from the Models gimmick. Dupri said as far as she knows, there’s never been talk about her changing her name again.

“No. I know it is kind of funny, but no, I haven’t heard anything,” Dupri added.
