Cody Rhodes Reveals Who Gave Him A ‘Master Class’ Education With A Single Promo

Cody Rhodes has revealed that a promo segment with a wrestling legend gave him a masterclass education.

Reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was a guest on the All The Smoke podcast. Apart from the other things he discussed, he also talked about his favorite wrestler to work with in the ring.

While he said John Cena was an obvious answer, Cody Rhodes revealed an interesting name in WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts as someone he loved being in the ring with. Rhodes stated that a single promo segment with the legend helped him learn a lot.

“I mean, John (Cena), obviously John, but I’m trying to think of something that, I’ll tell you one that I learned a lot from in a very short amount of time, was Jake Roberts, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts.

“I learned a lot from him in just a single promo. In a single promo, I learned how a guy can basically cut your legs, but if you’re strong enough as a character, you can stand to that. But if you weren’t, he was going to move past you.

“The real side of what we do, the competition on who gets to the top, that’s all very, very real. Just the other parts of it are not, and I learned a great deal from working with him. I don’t share that with him enough because it was just one night that we had this interview, and I thought I just got a master class, and had I not had my feet planted in this ground, this guy would’ve just eaten me up and moved on. But he was one that I thought was really special.”

The promo segment Cody Rhodes spoke about was the one they had in AEW when Jake Roberts made his debut for the company on the March 4, 2020, episode of Dynamite.
