Kota Ibushi Provides Timetable For In-Ring Return From Serious Injury

AEW star Kota Ibushi will be out of action for a long time after suffering a serious injury.

At last week’s AEW Collision taping, Kota Ibushi faced Josh Alexander. During the match, Alexander pushed him off the top rope, and Ibushi fell from the turnbuckle to the floor outside the ring. He landed awkwardly on his leg and got badly hurt.

After the match, Ibushi revealed that he had broken his femur and has already undergone surgery. He assured fans that he won’t end his career despite the injury. Ibushi also shared that Tony Khan sent him a letter and flowers to show his support.

Kota Ibushi also shared on Instagram how long his recovery will take. On Instagram, he wrote, “My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”

Sadly, Kota Ibushi’s run in AEW has been filled with several unfortunate injuries that have continued to trouble him. He suffered multiple setbacks in 2024, which kept him out of action for most of the year. He finally made his AEW return in June 2025, but now he faces yet another major challenge in his career.
