Ring Announcer Accidentally Declares The Wrong Winner On NXT Showdown

For a moment, it seemed like Kelani Jordan won the Women’s Survivor Series Elimination match for Team NXT on NXT Showdown.

The 4-on-4 elimination-style match featured NXT’s Jacy Jayne, Lola Vice, Sol Ruca and Jaida Parker facing off with Team TNA’s Kelani Jordan, The IInspiration and Mara Sade. The match came down to Kelani Jordan by herself against Vice, Ruca and Jayne.

Jordan managed to eliminate Vice, and TNA ring announcer McKenzie Mitchell began to announce that the match was over and Team NXT had won. However, she quickly realized her mistake and correctly announced that Vice was eliminated and the match would continue.

“Here are your winners, Team— Lola Vice has been eliminated!”

The problem with that is Jordan was on Team TNA.

It’s worth noting that mistakes happen all the time, and you can’t fault Mitchell for getting confused. Jordan is an NXT star. However, she joined Team TNA due to being the TNA Knockouts Champion after winning the title at TNA Victory Road.

There’s been plenty of crossover between both rosters as of late, including NXT’s Trick Williams winning the TNA Championship. The Hardys, who are signed with TNA, also won the NXT Tag Team Championship on Tuesday. That, combined with Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace having ties to both promotions, is sure to lead to some confusion. Despite that, it was still an awkward, albeit slightly humorous moment on the broadcast.

Jordan ended up being the last woman eliminated on Team TNA, leading to Sol Ruca and Jacy Jayne picking up the win for NXT. So NXT did end up winning, just not as early as they’d heard.
