AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday Results:

This week’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with Tony Schiavone, who brings AEW World Champion Hangman Page and Samoa Joe to the ring for their face-to-face encounter.

Hangman Page says there have been six years of Dynamite, and a large part of that was in Daily’s Place. Page runs down some of the crazy things he’s done in the last six years, but he’s never been more confused than when Samoa Joe lost his composure with him last week. Page says he volunteered to help The Opps with the Death Riders even though he finished with them a long time ago, and after the match, Joe blew his gasket at him and told him that he’s never beaten him. Hangman believes this is about Joe wanting the World Championship again, and that’s what this is all about.

Page says he asked Samoa Joe to have this chance at WrestleDream because he owes him for what he did earlier this year at All In: Texas. Page appreciates that The Opps helped make his match against Moxley a fair fight. Hangman says Joe will have a chance to win the championship at WrestleDream, but he won’t let Joe take that title from him.

Samoa Joe says everything Hangman said is absolutely true. Joe says when he stares across the ring at Hangman, his problem isn’t that he’s the champion; he sees a pretender. Joe says Hangman wouldn’t be the AEW World Champion without The Opps. Samoa Joe says he’s surprised this didn’t happen sooner because the target is the man who calls himself a champion.

Is Hangman Page a fraud?

Joe says Page isn’t a real World Champion and accuses him of padding his stats. Joe says he’s here to collect what is owed to him. Samoa Joe calls Hangman a fraud and says he’s going to choke him out at WrestleDream. Joe says after the pay-per-view, he will know his place, and he will give AEW a rightful World Champion.

Hangman Page says he doesn’t know why he has to explain the proof of what he is; isn’t about their opinion of him; it’s when the bell rings. Page says Joe will probably beat his ass at WrestleDream, but he’s not going to make him tap out. Page says he hopes that after WrestleDream is over that Joe will be able to shake his hand and acknowledge that he’s the champion of the world. Hangman leaves Joe alone in the ring.

Will Roderick Strong ever accept The Conglomeration?

Alicia Atout is backstage with The Conglomeration and Roderick Strong. Mark Briscoe hypes up the group’s matches that will take place on Dynamite and Collision this week. They try to get Strong to put his hand in, but he decides not to and walks away instead.

Jon Moxley (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. Tomohiro Ishii

  • The finish of the match saw Jon Moxley lock Tomohiro Ishii in a body scissors choke to win the match via passout.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Grade: B+

This was a hard-hitting affair to kick off the in-ring action tonight on Dynamite. Moxley and Ishii always have great chemistry, and this match didn’t disappoint. I would have preferred the title to be on the line just so there was more of a question of who was going to win, but I never felt for a second like Ishii was going to leave Daily’s Place with the victory.

The Young Bucks need more money…

We see a backstage video from earlier in the day with The Young Bucks pounding on Tony Khan’s office door and Nick yelling about needing another money match. Renee Paquette approaches them and suggests they should be worried about Jurassic Express, who are in action later tonight.

Matt Jackson says he bought them front row seats and had to sell off some of their sneakers in order to do so. Nick wasn’t pleased and continued to pound on the door.

We get a video package hyping up the match between Kris Statlander and Toni Storm at AEW WrestleDream next weekend.

Street Fight: The Demand (Ricochet and GOA) vs. The Hurt Syndicate

  • The finish of the match saw Shelton Benjamin hit Ricochet with a launching German Suplex through a table set up in the corner. Bobby Lashley scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The Hurt Syndicate

Grade: A-

This match was a car crash in every sense of the word. These six men beat the hell out of each other for our entertainment, and I tip my hat to all of them. I probably would have given this match an A, but the table spot that didn’t break takes it down a hint for me.

The Don Callis Family is massive

Renee Paquette is backstage with The Don Callis Family. This was basically just a segment where Don Callis hyped up all the matches that The Don Callis Family has this week, between tonight on Dynamite and Saturday on Collision.

Jurassic Express vs. O’Ryan and KM

  • The finish of the match saw Jurassic Express hit O’Ryan with Countdown to Extinction. Jack Perry scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Jurassic Express

After the match, the Young Bucks hit the ring and attack Jurassic Express. Nick Jackson challenges Jurassic Express to a match next weekend at WrestleDream. The Young Bucks hit Jack Perry with the TK Driver.

Grade: B

The match was longer than I thought it would be, but it was basically just a showcase for Jurassic Express. The post-match beatdown with the Young Bucks made it all worth it. Another big match has been added to the card next weekend at WrestleDream. I dig it!

PAC wants to make a statement for the Death Riders tonight

The Death Riders are backstage, and PAC hypes his match for later tonight against Orange Cassidy. Wheeler Yuta has a few things to say before he’s cut off by Daniel Garcia. It seems clear that they are already planting the seeds that these two won’t be able to get along.

AEW TNT Championship: Kyle Fletcher (c) (w/ Don Callis and Lance Archer) vs. Kyle O’Reilly

  • The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher hit Kyle O’Reilly with the sheer drop brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TNT Champion, Kyle Fletcher

After the match, a brawl ensues between The Don Callis Family and The Conglomeration, leaving Fletcher alone in the ring with Mark Briscoe. Fletcher backs down and leaves.

Grade: A-

A very good match. I don’t think these two are capable of having a bad match together. I just wish on “Title Tuesday” there would have been a title match on this show where I felt the champion was in jeopardy. There was no freaking way that Fletcher was losing that title tonight.

Another title match set for WrestleDream

Renee Paquette is backstage with Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis. Fletcher says he has Mark Briscoe’s number, and he’s already beaten him twice. Paquette says Briscoe has beaten him twice, and Tony Khan has made a TNT match between Briscoe and Fletcher official for WrestleDream.

Former WWE Superstar Lacey Lane (Kayden Carter) is revealed as Mercedes Moné’s opponent.

TBS Championship: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Lacey Lane

  • The finish of the match saw Mercedes Moné hit Lacey Lane with the Moné Maker to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TBS Champion, Mercedes Moné

Grade: B

I can’t lie, I was disappointed with who the opponent was, and I found it very hard to really get into this match. The match was better than I expected it to be, and maybe knowing the opponent ahead of time wouldn’t have had higher expectations, but it is what it is.

We get quick promos hyping up the match between Eddie Kingston and The Beast Mortos this weekend on AEW Collision.

Double Jeopardy Match: Brodido vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada (w/ Don Callis)

  • The finish of the match saw Kazuchika Okada hit Brodido with the Rainmaker to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Kazuchika Okada and Konsuke Takeshita

Grade: A-

Damn good match. It might have been my favorite match on the show tonight. It’s a toss-up between that and the street fight. Looking forward to the rematch with the titles on the line next weekend at WrestleDream.

We get some quick promos from the teams of JetSpeed and Willow Nightingale, and the team of FTR and Megan Bayne. They have a mixed trios match this weekend on Collision.

Brody King with the pep talk

Renee Paquette is backstage with Brodido. Bandido is very down on himself for the losing the tag match tonight. Brody King gives Bandido a pep talk to hype him up and declares they will retain the titles next weekend at WrestleDream.

Orange Cassidy vs. PAC

  • The finish of the match saw Orange Cassidy catch PAC with the seatbelt pin to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

Grade: A-

After the match, Darby Allin came out and attacked PAC and Wheeler Yuta. The Death Riders tried to chase after Allin into the crowd outside of Daily’s Place, but Allin was ready with a Molotov cocktail, but was taken down by security before he could use it as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

Tonight was a fun show. We got three big match announcements for WrestleDream next weekend, and we got some really fun matches. But I feel like when you’re going head-to-head with NXT and TNA, you could have pushed the envelope a bit harder tonight than they did.

Not following up on Andrade and Kenny Omega was a big mistake in my opinion. Is that match not happening at WrestleDream next weekend? If not, why? That doesn’t make any sense to me. I also felt like Mercedes’ mystery opponent tonight was a letdown. But it is what it is. I still enjoyed tonight’s show, but I feel they didn’t push hard enough to get an overall A grade this evening.

Grade: B+
