AJ Styles Says His Match With John Cena Doesn’t Need A Story

AJ Styles says his history with John Cena speaks for itself.

Styles appeared on Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW for a six-man tag team match. Styles teamed with Penta and Dragon Lee against The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Finn Balor. Before he could cut a pre-match promo, The Judgment Day cut Styles off.

The match saw Rusev get involved, which led to Styles hitting McDonagh with the Styles Clash for the win. After the match, Styles finally got the chance to speak. He seemingly addressed online criticism about the lack of build-up for his match at Crown Jewel (and Cena’s absence on WWE TV leading up to the event). Styles said that they don’t need a story, because it speaks for itself.

“Now that I’ve got a second to talk,” Styles began. “This match at Crown Jewel between AJ Styles and John Cena, we don’t need a story, it writes itself. You’ve got two men who will dance for the last time, and I will promise you this: we will leave it all in that ring. It will kick ass!”

John Cena vs. AJ Styles takes place at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, Western Australia on October 11. This will be their final match, and it’s also the first singles match they have had since the February 27, 2018, episode of WWE SmackDown.
