The Rock recently revealed his favorite video game, naming a classic.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is busy promoting his new movie, The Smashing Machine, co-starring Emily Blunt and directed by Benny Safdie. He spoke in an interview with IGN, who asked The Rock to name his favorite video game.
He considers EA Sports Madden his all-time favorite game. The Rock also mentioned Donkey Kong as the classic arcade game he enjoyed the most. He said, “Favorite video game of all time? Oh man, I gotta go with Madden. It’s at home.”
When asked about stand-up arcade games, he said, “Donkey Kong,” specifying that he meant the original one, as the “rest don’t matter.”
The Rock has appeared in several WWE 2K games and enjoys sports video games, and he even appreciates classic titles like Donkey Kong. Johnson has another video game connection, as he starred in the 2018 movie Rampage, which was inspired by the 1986 smash ’em up game released by Bally Midway.
The Rock highlights how much Steve Austin helped him in WWE
The rivalry between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin ranks among WWE’s most legendary, with the two clashing at WrestleMania three times. Speaking to Sports Illustrated for a new interview, The Rock revealed that Stone Cold personally selected him as his opponent to main event WrestleMania 15.
“Speaking of good guys, this guy helped me so much, Mark,” Rocky said. “He was on top of the world. He saw just a little bit of potential in me, but also smart enough to know, he’s like, man, we got some chemistry, man. Me and you.
“And I was not in a position to say, ‘Hey, let’s me and you work together. Let’s go headline WrestleMania.’ He had to say it. And he went on, he went to Vince McMahon in 1999, in January of 99, I think. He said, ‘I wanna main event WrestleMania with The Rock.’ The rest is history. We went on, and I went on to have just the greatest rivalry with him.”
