There appears to be a new “Icon” in the making.
Following his appearance as Wolfpac Sting at AEW Revolution 2024, news emerged that Steven Borden Jr. was training to become a pro wrestler, with Darby Allin as a coach. Steven has had some additional training alongside Adam Copeland, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler as well. Now, it seems that he’s ready for his in-ring debut.
From September 26 until October 11, the 52 Walker art gallery in New York City will host its “sixteenth-and-a-half” exhibition, filled with drawings inspired by artist Raymond Pettibon’s long-time interest in professional wrestling. Also included in the presentation is a string of live wrestling matches taking place inside a ring installed within the gallery. Per a press release, Steve Borden Jr. is one of the wrestlers competing.
Steven, alongside the likes of Killer Kross, AR Fox, Timothy Thatcher, and Darby Allin, will show off their in-ring skills on October 3 and 10 for a pair of shows titled “Hardway.” The title itself comes from a term referring to when a wrestler gets busted open by accident.
For Steven, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting, Hardway will mark his pro wrestling debut, though it is unclear as to who his opponent will be. Sid Ellington and Kiran Grey will also be in action at the wrestling events, which are said to be organized by Allin, a friend of Pettibon’s. Wrestling props created by Charlie Ramone will also be on display.
Last year, Borden shared that he had hardly been in the ring before AEW Revolution. He also said that telling his father he wanted to wrestle was a “tough conversation” to have.
