AJ Styles vs. John Cena hasn’t happened on the latter’s retirement tour, but could it?
Styles is regarded as one of John Cena’s best rivals in WWE. The pair had several great matches against each other in 2016, but they haven’t met on Cena’s retirement tour. On Monday night, John Cena polled fans about the possibility of one more match, asking if they wanted to see them collide one more time.
“#CenavsStyles Thoughts? #WWERaw,” Cena said in a Twitter/X post on Monday night.
On Tuesday, Cena once again did a temperature check about the possibility of the match taking place.
“I do not choose my opponents, but I (even through tough times) ALWAYS listen to the fans,” John Cena wrote. “@AJStylesOrg are you listening? Better yet @TripleH ….. are YOU listening???”
AJ Styles responds to John Cena
AJ Styles has since responded, writing that he heard the fans’ response to the match. Styles is on board and said he’s ready for the match.
“I hear them loud and clear. Let’s do it, I’m ready,” AJ Styles said.
Cena just lost to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza on Saturday night. There are only five dates left on Cena’s retirement tour. Could AJ Styles be his opponent for one of them? Those dates are:
- October 11: WWE Crown Jewel: Perth (Australia)
- November 10: WWE Raw (Boston)
- November 17: WWE Raw (New York)
- November 29: WWE Survivor Series (San Diego)
- December 13: Retirement Match (Location TBA)
Both men are on board with the match. Your move, Triple H.
