Seth Rollins kept his injury a secret even from John Cena.
Back in July, Rollins faced LA Knight at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match was stopped due to an apparent knee injury. He wore knee braces afterward, which made many fans believe the injury was real. Some, however, suspected it was part of a storyline since Rollins never had to give up his Money in the Bank contract.
At WWE SummerSlam Night One, Rollins revealed the truth by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and defeating CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk had just beaten Gunther in a tough match before losing to Rollins.
In an interview with Jimmy Traina for Sports Illustrated, Rollins was asked if he felt guilty about lying to anyone regarding his injury. He explained that John Cena had reached out to check on him, but he chose not to reveal that it was part of a storyline.
“John reached out and I had to do my best to wiggle around it. But John and I are cut from the same cloth, so when he saw the final outcome, he was very happy, he was proud in a way.” [H/T: WrestlePurists]
