Update On Claudio Castagnoli’s Contract Status With AEW

Some clarification on Claudio Castagnoli‘s future in AEW after a missed appearance caused some concern about his status.

AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli recently missed a planned appearance at the promotion’s Grand Slam Mexico event. He has been heavily featured on AEW programming since, but the absence led many fans to ask if he was injured or if something else had happened.

According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), many also noticed that Castagnoli has been with AEW for almost three full years, leading to speculation that his contract had expired. However, a new update provided some clarity on Castagnoli’s future in the company.

AEW sources told the outlet that Castagnoli still has a “substantial amount of time left on his contract.” It was also noted that Tony Khan has been very clear about wanting Claudio in the promotion for a very long time.

Despite his absence at Grand Slam: Mexico, Claudio Castagnoli has continued to be a featured member of the Death Riders stable. He has competed in several matches since then, including a Lights Out Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door: London, and last week’s $500,000 ten-man tag team match featuring the Death Riders and the Young Bucks defeating Brodido and The Opps. The conclusion of last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw the reveal of a new member of the Death Riders faction.
