Fans worried about AJ Styles’ future in WWE shouldn’t be concerned anymore.
The Phenomenal One has been trending on social media since delivering a cryptic promo on WWE RAW this past Monday. Styles hinted at possible friction with management, saying, “Somebody doesn’t want me here.”
He then took out his frustrations on El Grande Americano, defeating the masked superstar with a Styles Clash after several minutes of action. A new report suggests that the situation between WWE and AJ Styles is purely a storyline, with the promotion using his contract status as part of an angle.
“Sources have indicated that with word of AJ Styles’ contract status hitting the internet, WWE intends to lean into it on programming leading up to February,” according to Bodyslam.net (via Bodyslam+).
A previous report also noted that Styles had explored other potential options before re-signing with WWE earlier this year.
Karl Anderson comments on AJ Styles’ WWE future
During his RAW promo, Styles referenced The Good Brothers—Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson—pointing out that they no longer had his back since they were no longer with the company.
Karl Anderson addressed his friend’s WWE future in a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio. According to Anderson, Styles is a devoted family man, but his competitive nature will likely keep him in WWE for a while longer.
“AJ Styles, he can wrestle as long as he wants to wrestle,” Anderson said. “He can go as long as he wants to go. The thing with AJ, he’s such a family man. He’s always ready to hang it up and he likes to tell us that he can sit down if he wants to. He can stay home if he wants to. Like, he’s done his thing, he’s proved his point that he’s one of the best wrestlers of all time to ever do this. He’s proved everything that he’s ever needed to prove. But he likes being home.”
