Eddie Kingston Reacts To Challenge From AEW Star

It sounds like Eddie Kingston is feeling more confident that he’s in fighting shape.

Kingston has been sidelined with a leg injury that he suffered in a match against Gabe Kidd at NJPW STRONG Resurgence in May 2024. Kingston has been rehabbing his leg in the hopes of making a return to AEW soon.

It appears that he might be ready to step back in the ring, based on recent events on AEW television. Last week’s episode of AEW Collision saw Big Bill issue a challenge to Kingston, noting that he’s from New York City, a place full of real tough guys. With that in mind, Bill called out another tough guy in Kingston, for a match.

Kingston has not responded to the challenge — until now.

Eddie Kingston posted the following on Threads, telling Big Bill that everything is squared away on his end, he just needs the “dumb, goofy bastard” to send him the location.

“So got the phone call and the money is right contract is signed on my end. So Big Bill you dumb goofy bastard just send loctation [sp],” Kingston wrote on Threads.

Now, it just seems like a matter of waiting for Tony Khan and AEW to make things official… unless there’s always the possibility that this is an unsanctioned, “Lights Out” street fight, as AEW has been known to promote in the past.

Last month, Kingston said that his return was out of his hands, but he’d spoken to Khan about it.

“I know people are asking, ‘When? When? When?’ It’s not up to me,” Kingston said. “There is a lot of business and backstage stuff that I don’t like to talk about because that’s not my job. My job, right now, is to be ready for when it’s time. You never know when that call is. I talked to my boss [Tony Khan]. Everything is good. He has to book a fight. Some people don’t want to fight me. I don’t know who, but when they happen and they don’t want to fight me, Tony is like, ‘Okay. I can’t force nobody to do it.’
