It doesn’t sound like we’ll be hearing Wade Barrett doing commentary on WWE programming again anytime soon. (Update below!)
Last night on WWE SmackDown, it was announced that Michael Cole and Corey Graves would be the new commentary team on Friday nights moving forward, replacing the duo of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett. But what does that mean for RAW?
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Barrett is off the road going forward. Meaning he will not be calling Monday Night RAW.
While some have questioned if this has any relation to his recent issues with Nikki Bella, Johnson has been unable to confirm that’s the case.
Wade Barrett clears the air
UPDATE: Wade Barrett took to social media this afternoon to clear the air and dismiss this report, revealing he’s had personal time booked off months ago, tweeting out:
“I usually ignore BS reports like this, but it’s causing needless hate to be spewed towards people I work with. WWE have kindly given me a couple of weeks off for personal time (booked nine months ago), and then I’m back to business as usual. A complete non-story. The end,” Wade Barrett said in a post.
That settles things on Barrett’s end…
As far as Joe Tessitore goes, Cory Hays of Bodyslam is reporting that he’ll also be off the road for WWE over the next few months due to college football season.
The new commentary team for WWE RAW, as of this writing, remains a mystery.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
