Update on AEW Star Jamie Hayter’s Injury Status

Former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter has been sidelined for months with an undisclosed injury.

Hayter last wrestled at AEW Double or Nothing, where she lost to Mercedes Moné in the Owen Hart Cup finals. Days later, she was written off television when Thekla attacked her during her AEW debut on Dynamite.

Since then, Hayter has not appeared on AEW shows. Reports later revealed that she is not cleared to compete, and if she were healthy, the company would already have her back in action. President Tony Khan had also explained how Hayter’s absence has forced AEW to make changes to its booking and how her injury created a ripple effect across the company.

Latest reports from Fightful Select via the weekly Q&A podcast state that AEW did not expect Jamie Hayter’s absence to last this long. The former AEW Women’s Champion had also hoped to return sooner, ideally in time for Forbidden Door this weekend, which takes place in her home country of the UK.

Jamie Hayter reveals the inspiration behind her new look

Jamie Hayter made her return last year at the AEW All In: London pre-show at Wembley Stadium after a year-long hiatus caused by an injury sustained before Double or Nothing 2023. On her return, Hayter attacked Saraya, Harley Cameron, and other Outcasts members. She also debuted a fresh look, showcasing colorful outfits along with striking new orange hair.

Back in a May interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Hayter explained that her new appearance reflects her personality and interests. “I know it was jarring at first because I looked so different–but this is me. I’m bringing myself more into my wrestling. My favorite band is The Doors.”

“When I was hurt, listening to their music would cheer me up and get me pumped. I’m really into 60s, 70s psychedelic rock. I love Kate Bush. Music makes me feel good. This is like a new album in my career. I like the whole counterculture movement, and I draw a lot of inspiration from that. We’ll see if it’s everyone’s cup of tea.”
